Facial Reconstruction

Facial Reconstruction

Many people think of facial reconstruction only being performed on individuals involved in traumatic accidents or fires.

Although these individuals benefit significantly from facial reconstruction, there are other conditions that may necessitate such a procedure, including tumor removal, or correcting problems associated with the long-term effects of wearing dentures.

Facial reconstruction sometimes involves the placement of soft tissue or bone grafts in the facial area. Sometimes these grafts are taken from other parts of the face, or body. Technological advancements have now made it possible to reconstruct portions of the face with artificial prostheses, which are secured to the facial structures through implants anchored in bone.
